This Society has lately sent out another lay-reader, Mr. George Pollard to be employed under the Bishop of Melbourne in this Diocese, upon the understanding that £40, to meet £60 contributed from the funds of the Society, should be raised by local subscriptions for his maintenance.
Mr. Pollard arrived with his wife by the "Aurora," on the 1st of April 1850. He is at present at the Barrabool Hills, but it is intended, that he should hereafter conduct the service on Sundays, in the Boys School Room, Russell Street, Melbourne, and visit the district comprised between Russell and Stephen Streets, under the direction of the Rev. Daniel Newham.
The Committee of the 'Melbourne Diocesan Society and Church of England Association' have made a grant of the required sum of £40 towards his stipend for the present year.
